Welcome to the October issue of the International 420 Class Association newsletter, featuring the latest 420 race reports, results, upcoming events and news.
The world's best sailors faced off this summer at the 420 World Championships in Sanremo, Italy, 420 Junior European Championships on Lake Balaton, Hungary and 420 Team Racing World Championship on Lake Garda, Italy. A record breaking 524 sailors representing 25 nations competed at the 420 Worlds - strength in numbers is an understatement of the popularity of the world's most popular two-person youth dinghy. Attention now turns to planning next year's Championships hosted at two iconic venues, the 2017 420 Worlds in Fremantle, Australia and 2016 Junior Europeans on Lake Garda, Italy.
Away from the race track, attention turns to our globally targeted development programme.Catch up below on news of 420 Clinics already held in Myanmar and Italy, with registration still open for the 1st Indoneisa and South-East Asia Sailors and Coaches Clinic in Jakarta, 30 November-4 December 2016.
Proud to see a strong line-up of sailors who chose the 420 Class as their pathway to the Olympics nominated for the 2016 Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award. Public voting opens at 1200 hours UTC on Friday 4 November - good luck to every shortlisted sailor.
Measuring success by YouTube views proved a good indicator of the popularity of our 420 to the Max training video, reaching an incredible total of over 250,000 views. As well as English, this unique training tool is available in French, Spanish, German and Japanese. Lots of tips and techniques aimed at the 420 Class, but equally relevant for many classes of boat.
