Congratulations to past 420 sailors, Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie (NZL) who have just won the 470 women's event at 2011 Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta. Aleh and Powrie took victory at the 2007 420 Ladies World Championships on their home turf in Auckland, New Zealand.

The IOC Olympic Solidarity department has confirmed that the Federacao Mocambicana de la Vela e Canoagem (Mozambique Sailing Federation) will host a Level 3 Technical Course for Coaches from 25 -31 July 2011. Timed to take place place ahead of the All African Games in Maputo this September, thanks to $12,000 USD in funding from their National Olympic Committee, the Course will be open to coaches from all over Africa.

Today was the day when the team selection for the ISAF Youth Worlds was determined at the Dutch Youth Regatta, incorporating the 2011 Dutch 420 National Championships

After a stunning day's sailing yesterday which also confirmed the selection of Floris and Laurens van de Werken and Fieke van Dijk and Josca Hummel as the boys' and girls' teams to represent The Netherlands at the 2011 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships – today was an altogether different affair.

Day 2 of the Dutch Youth Regatta, combining the 2011 Dutch 420 National Championships, started with a north easterly of around 12 knots and sun – great conditions for race 3.

The opening day of the 2011 Dutch Youth Regatta delivered two races for the forty three 420 teams racing at Workum, The Netherlands. This event is also the 2011 Dutch 420 National Championships.

After three days of racing and 9 races, the 2011 Portuguese 420 National Championship titles were awarded today in Tavira, Portugal. 32 teams contested the Championships which were sailed in a range of conditions from 2.5 knots through to over 15 knots, testing teams' skills.

The second day of the 2011 Portuguese 420 Championship, being held on the offshore island of Tavira, delivered three races in a south south-westerly breeze ranging from 2.5 - 12 knots. After a frustrating test of patience in today's opening race 4, races 5 and 6 tested the sailors in a different way as the wind increased.

The first day of the 2011 Portuguese 420 Championship was held today, Friday 27 May, off the coast of Tavira Island. A successful day with 3 races completed, which were contested under a blue sky and hot sun, with an easterly of about 4-5 knots.

60 young sailors are making their final preparations for the 2011 Portuguese 420 National Championships with racing getting underway tomorrow, Friday 27 May through to Sunday 29 May 2011.
