The 2011 Alpe Adria Challenge over 21-22 May got underway in a 15 knot breeze on Saturday, before decreasing on Sunday.

It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that we announce the passing away of Paolillo Luca, a young 420 sailor from Italy who tragically passed away on 18 May after a road accident.

Held over the weekend of 14-15 May 2011 the inaugural Mediterranean Sailing Meeting hosted by the Club Nàutic El Balís attracted seventeen 420 teams to the waters off Barcelona, Spain.

The International 420 Class Association is pleased to announce the launch of a free online Training Video to provide coaching and training tips for both the beginner and experienced 420 sailors. Sailors are always looking for ways to improve their sailing techniques, improve manoeuvres and get the most out of the time spent on the water and this online resource is set to provide a significant step towards this objective.

Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club in Cape Town hosted the 2011 420 Class Nationals from 30 April-2 May 2011 in partnership with the South African National 420 Class Association and South African Sailing.

2007 marked the first time that sailing was included in the All African Games, the pinnacle multisport event in Africa, which was then held in Algeria and used the Laser and Laser Radial.

The five days of racing and 10 races delivered a closely fought 2011 Spanish 420 National Championships in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria hosted by the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria.

With no racing on the final day of Coupe Internationale de l'Amitié (CIMA) due to lack of wind, the overnight positions remained, with victory going to Guillaume Pirouelle and Valentin Sipan from the SNPH.

On the penultimate day of racing at CV Martigues, Guillaume Pirouelle and Valentin Sipan had a great day and took over the lead with 7 points in hand over Yvann Thelier and Gulllaume Holin who are from Brest and de Sanary, amongst this highly competitive top pack of French sailors.
