420s gather in Haifa for 50th Anniversary World Championships

160 boats, 320 sailors and a whole host of coaches, team managers, officials – Jury, Race Committee, Measurers, Organisers and staff of the Haifa Sailing Club and the Haifa Municipality…. and a good many supporters too….are gathered on the Hashaket Beach, the ‘quiet beach’ [well hardly with 420s around! (ed)] just between the very large, tertiary referral Rambam Hospital and the Naval Dockyard and Port of Haifa.

420 fleets race at dusk on day two at Istanbul

Lara Vadlau & Elli Smolka (AUT) took the women’s lead with a 2nd (home team Ipeknaz Özden & Deniz Gökmeral scored a bullet) and Linda Fahrni & Maja Siegenhalter (SUI) hold in 2nd overall, while Maelenn Lemaitre & Aloise Retornaz (FRA) move up to 3rd.

Vilas Boas & Camelo win at Vilamoura 2010

With no racing on the final day, the 36th International Carnival Sailing Regatta at Vilamoura, Portugal concluded with the sixth race on Sunday. A discard having kicked in on day 2, it was all change in the top three from the first day.
