Volker & Cunill are South American Champions 2009

Pablo Volker & Agustin Cunill Martinez (ARG) won the Campeonato Sudamericano 420 / Semana de Buenos Aires 2009 decisively on Sunday, following five days of racing Benjamin Grez Ahrens & Carlos Vergara Infante of Chile, last year’s Semana winners and 5th in the South Americans, had a great regatta after a slow start on day 1, to take the Silver place on the podium.

Our very special correspondent in Buenos Aires says he is sorry to be a little slow in sending us news of the sailing on the penultimate day of the South American Championships. We will forgive him – it was party night on Saturday and he, that’s Pablo Volker, and Agustin were celebrating! They are the new South American Champions, with a race in hand!

New Nautivelas arrive and the Ecuador 420 Class is born!

Eduardo Vitari writes, “Very happy to report the arrival of the first five 420s in Ecuador. This is the seed of what we hope will be a large fleet. The boats were taken out of customs on April 24, and have arrived at the Salinas Yacht Club, where their permanent home will be. Salinas YC has justhosted the South American Optimist Championships - Campeonato Sudamericano IODA 2009.
