OPENING CEREMONY LAUNCHES 2023 420/470 JUNIOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Over 220 crews from 23 countries will compete in the Junior European Championships in the 420 and 470 class in Gdynia. This event is held as part of the 24th edition of the Gdynia Sailing Days regatta. On Tuesday evening, the opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the President of World Sailing, Quanhai Li, and the Vice-President of World Sailing and President of the Polish Sailing Association, Tomasz Chamera.
Equipment measurements were conducted two days ago at the Gdynia Marina, and a trial race was held on the Gdańsk Bay on Tuesday. The first scored races will take place on Wednesday.
In both classes, 12 races are planned. In the 420 class, there will be six races in the qualifying rounds and six in the final phase, while in the 470 class, there will be five races in the qualifying rounds, six in the final phase, and a final medal race. The championships will conclude on Monday, July 10th.
