GBR Worlds/Junior Euros Team Selectors reach climax

This weekend a 3-day event completes the challenging Selectors started back in March at Weymouth & Portland, continued at Sunderland YC, returning south to Hayling Island to finish on Monday. 50+ boats have sailed the Series, with more boats at each event, inc. teams from France, Germany, Belgium & Ireland.

With excellent conditions for the final day of their 3rd Selector event and with 17 races at 3 venues behind them, Richard Mason & Daniel Schieber were comfortably the overall winners, but James & Dan Ellis had an excellent event and achieved 2nd iioverall as well as winning the event itself.

222 sailors from 20 countries are enjoying excellent sailing conditions in the waters of the Eastern Algarve. The International 420 Junior European Championship has attracted record entries to the Clube Náutico de Tavira, Portugal. For the first time, this year the 420 and 470 Classes are hosting their Junior European Championships together.

A moving picture at the Junior Euros by the end of Day 2. World Champions, Carl Evans & Peter Burling (NZL) have taken the lead (but on equal 11 points) from Amit Brokman & Moshe Appel (ISR) tonight. Up from last night, James & Dan Ellis have jumped into 3rd. Berenger Balzeau & Mathieu Fontaine (FRA) 4th on 19 and António Rosa & Francisco Lacerda (POR) 5th on 22 points.
