On behalf of the Colombian Sailing Federation it is a pleasure to re-introduce the Colombian 420 Class Association as one of the classes currently sailed in our territory. The 420 Class was very active more than 20 years ago and thank to Martha Juliana Acevedo and Carlos Salas it has been reactivated. Irma Lucia Ruiz, President of FCV.

After the successful Coaches and Sailors Clinic that our Vice-president Jose Massapina comanded the last month in Colombia, the local authorities are sending us grateful letters and informing the International 420 class is being re-introduced by the Colombian Sailing Federation.

We're really happy to hear it and trust this will be a great news for many young sailors in Colombia.

We wish you all the best and count with us to help you growing the 420 COL!

About the 420 class

The 420 is an established worldwide performance two-person trapeze and spinnaker racing dinghy which holds status as a World Sailing International Class. This boat is the natural progression from the junior racing classes, such as the Optimist and Cadet.

The 420 is a proven transition class which provides sailors with excellent skills in strategy, tactics, boat handling, tuning and technique. There are 420 builders all over the world and equipment is easily available.

As with any two-person boat, finding a crew is important. Sailing with a good crew is part of the fun of the International 420, but also a vital learning process for future sailing. When starting out, a good sailing friend is probably a sensible start!

Learning to work in partnership is important, with both roles mutually dependent, as well as learning the controls of the boat.
