Some news is dripping in (well, coming via Blackberry) from the race area at the Worlds. Our special correspondent in a rubber boat, former 420 sailor (press-ganged by Feli we fear), Matias Fineschi is sending us news today:

13.06 (ARG time): “Yesterday after 2 races, 5 boats broke their masts, 2 from Brazil and 1 from GBR, so far as I know. The wind was about 18 to 21 knots, with big waves in the River Plate. Today I’m sending info from the water from my Blackberry. Weather conditions are similar. Today (Day 2), we are only having one race, due to the New Year festival”.

14.15: “Girls fleet has just started with a few early starters. 1 minute for 420 men start! 18 knots wind speed, and sunny day!”

15.57: "Day 2 has concluded, Benjamin Grez & Diego Gonzalez from Chile won. [Maelenn Lemaitre & Aloise Retornaz of France won the Ladies', their 2nd win of the Championship]. The day ended with approximately 20 knots, from the east. About three boats broke their masts again".
