COME AND JOIN OUR BEACH CLEAN UP AT THE 420 JUNIOR EUROPEANS
ECOMAR and the Real Federación Gallega de Vela are organizing a beach clean-up on 24 July 2019 at Playa Ecomar on the Isla de Cortegada.
Meet at the Real Federación Gallega de Vela at 1730 hours, and all material for the clean-up will be provided.
The intiative is being supported by two-time Olympic Champion in the 470 Class, Theresa Zabell, who is also President of Fundacion Ecomar. Fundacion Ecomar is an organization focused on environmental projects.
The International 420 Class is actively promoting environmental initiatives within the sailing community and is delighted at the programmes put in place for both the 420 Worlds and the Junior Europeans.
The best junior 420 and 470 sailors from Europe and beyond will be heading to Vilagarcia di Arousa for the 2019 420/470 Junior European Championship from 23-30 July 2019.
Racing will take place across four divisions:
420 - U19 and U17 teams, with men, mixed and women teams racing against each other in each of the divisions (separate fleets for U19 and U17)
470 - U24 Men/Mixed and U24 Women teams will race in separate fleets
The Championship venue, Vilagarcia di Arousa, is a perfect sailing and racing venue, situated on Spain's north-western coastline. Dfferent race areas are available depending on the weather, offering race tracks closer to shore and out on the ocean. Weather conditions during the Championship are expected to be 24-30 degrees temperature, with breeze likely to be 8-20 knots from the N/NE, or if from the S/SW 6-14 knots, and up to 20-25 knots in low pressure.
