CANADA ANNOUNCES 420 CLASS TEAM FOR YOUTH WORLDS

Canadian youth sailors will make the long journey to Auckland, New Zealand from 14-20 December 2016 to compete in the 46th annual World Sailing Youth Championships.

 

ail Canada is pleased to announce that it has selected the Canadian Youth World team that will be representing Canada at this event, led by Team Leader Agustin Ferrario, who said ,“The competition in Canada for Youth Worlds has been tough, which only makes our selected athletes stronger when competing against the other 70 nations. We are very excited for the challenge ahead!”

Confirmed to compete in the 420 fleet are:
420 Girls – Georgia Lewin-LaFrance/Madeline Gillis
420 Boys – Pat Wilson/Arie Moffat

Both teams competed a tthe 2015 Youth Worlds in Malaysia, although Lewin-LaFrance who finished 13th in 2015 is racing with a new crew this year, whilst Wilson/Moffat finished 15th.

Joining the 420 teams are:
Laser Radial Girl – Lauren Sullivan/
Laser Radial Boy – Matti Muru/
29er Girls – Emily Bugeja/Astrid Frykman/
29er Boys – Eric Lyall/Andrew Wood/

These sailors will be training diligently over the next few months to ensure that they are in perfect form for the World Championships. Last year’s event in Langkawi, Malaysia saw 76 competing nations, with over 300 participants. For more information on the World Sailing Youth Championships, click here.
