Australia’s Youth Champions and ISAF Team named, Ko & Li and Lee & Hui return to Singapore victorious
The 2010 Australian Youth Champions are Angus Galloway & Alexander Gough and Elloise Brake & Ashley Warlow, the Women’s Champs. Chuan Yang Ko & Andrew Paul Li Jian Chan and Rachel Qing Lee & Benita Jia Hui were 1st and 2nd respectively at the regatta, leading three other SIN teams in the top ten! It was also good to see the Hong Kong team, Wing Ho Kwan & Wing Chun Lam, make 8th on the leaderboard.
Craig Heydon of Yachting Australia writes: “Light winds on the final day of competition kept the competitors on shore and out of the 43 degree heat. Unfortunately the wind remained almost non-existent for the entire day and racing was eventually cancelled…….It was all Singapore at the top of the 420 standings with Chuan Ko and Andrew Chan taking out the boys class and Rachel Lee and Benita Chua first in the girls class. Angus Golloway and Alex Gough were the second boys crew ahead of Matthew Jerwood and Patrick Vos in third. Queensland's Elloise Brake and Ashley Warlow finished second in the girls class ahead of Singapore’s Daniella Ng and Cheryl Yee”.
The Youth Championships are Australia’s selection event for their Youth Sailing Team. Angus Galloway & Alex Gough and Elloise Brake & Ashley Warlow were named to represent Australia at the 2010 ISAF Youth World Championships in Istanbul in July.
