Agustin Zappacosta writes: “After eight intense days of sailing, the Semana de Yachting came to an end in Mar del Plata. With winds ranging from 20 to 30+ knots throughout the whole week, the 420's were treated to extreme conditions and very rough seas. After 17 races the top position was heavily contested, as the crew of Sucari-Renna took first place on a one point margin from fellow competitors Verdino-Sanchez Brizuela. As the Championship came to an end, all the competitors were glad to have taken part in the event. As Sucari said, 'It was a great week with pretty consistent heavy winds. Luckily these conditions helped us improve our level in sight of the Worlds in Athens later this year'. Meanwhile, Tirso Sanchez said when asked about the heavy conditions on the last day; 'It was great fun out there, the adrenaline levels were very high, and the 30+ knots were a massacre!', he joked. The Argentine 420 fleet will now look forward to taking part in this year's South American Championship to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil”.
