420 CLASS COACHES AND SAILORS CLINIC IN CANADA
The first International 420 Class Coaches and Sailors Clinic kicked off on Wednesday 9 August at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, Kingston, Canada - home of the 1976 Olympic Sailing Competition.
Kingston is located about 300 km south-west of Montreal, which was the host of the 1976 Olymipic Games.
The Clinic has attracted 5 coaches and 30 sailors - from Canada, British Virgin Islands and the USA - keen to accelarate their learning and develop skills with the help of 420 Class Coach Michalis Mileos (GRE). Jose Massapina, 420 Class Vice-President responsible for development is also present sharing his expertise on the 420 Class and pathway it offers to develop sailing skils and attract young sailors.
The five-day programme, 9-13 August, is designed as a mix of theory and practical sessions. Take a look at the 5-day programme.
A few days after the Clinic and at the same venue, the Canadian Youth Sailing Championship will take place. Many sailors from different classes are preparing for the Championship, so it was an ideal opportunity to offer a "have a go session" to the young Optimist sailors in collaboration with their coach Florência Siccardi (CAN).
