Indonesia is the latest nation to benefit from the expertise of appointed coaches Jose Massapina (POR) and Nikos Drougkas (GRE), as 35 coaches and sailors will gather at the Coaches and Sailors Clinic from 30 November-4 December. Hosted at the Indonesian Sailing Federation headquarters in Jakarta, participants count a mix of male and female, with 25 coaches and 10 sailors, joining this “free of charge” five-day clinic.

The International 420 Class Association’s commitment to training and development initiative runs deep, and focuses on providing national class associations, coaches and sailors with the best possible tools to enable development, growth and performance at all levels of 420 sailing.

For sailors to realize their potential  their coaches must be of a high standard, and a focus of the 420 Class clinics is to grow the knowledge of local coaches. Across the five days of the clinic, time will be spent  on a mix of on-water sessions, lectures, exercises and presentations, with both theory and practicals.

From 420 sailing at grassroots level or to nations aiming for a podium finish at a major championship, the 420 Class aim is to ensure that pathway is as smooth as possible. The training programmes and initiatives the 420 Class offers help make a genuine difference to 420 sailing, enabling national class associations, coaches and sailors to grow.

The clinic in Indonesia follows on from development programmes held earlier this year in Myanmar and Italy, with a clinic taking place in Mexico in early 2017.

420 Class development initiatives also include online training resources, 420 to the Max and Performance Exercise e-book.
