"CARIOCA" DA CLASSE 420
Com grande performance, pois conquistaram 5
vitórias nas 8 regatas da série, a dupla Junior de São Sebastião - São
Paulo - Fábio Melchert / Fernando Cardial - conquistou o Campeonato do Estado
do Rio de Janeiro de 2007 da Classe 420. As condições de vento durante todo o
Campeonato foram bem dificeis, devido a passagem de frente fria no Rio de
Janeiro nos 2 primeiros dias, o que proporcionou ventos de
direção Sudoeste e Sul com muita chuva; e nos 2 dias finais, tivemos a
entrada de vento de direção Leste "puro", o que é raro de
acontecer e muito dificil de se velejar. Participaram do evento 11 duplas, do
RJ e SP; com destaque para o grande número de meninas, que sempre
apresentam alto nível técnico, e mais uma vez ficaram nas primeiras colocações:
Ana Jelena Jugen / kahena Kunze - vice campeãs - e Juliana Senftt / Gabriela Sá
- 3ª colocadas. O Campeonato foi o ultimo do ano, e serviu de treinamento, para
os eventos da Classe que agitarão os 3 primeiros meses de 2008: Campeonato
Brasileiro em Janeiro em São Sebastião, a Copa da Juventude em Fevereiro em
local a ser definido e o Campeonato Sul Americano em Março no Rio de
Janeiro. Neste 3 eventos, há expectativa da participação de um grande
número de duplas das flotilhas do RJ, SP, DF e RS; e mais de duplas da
Argentina, Chile e México para o Campeonato Sul Americano. Os resultados estão

The
wind conditions during the Championship were very difficult due, on the first
two days, to the passage of cold front through Rio de Janeiro, generating winds
from the South West and South, with a lot rain. In the final two days, we had
the wind blowing from East direction, which rarely happens and is very
difficult to sail. Eleven boats
competed in the event, from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The highlight was the
large number of girl teams, as always presenting a high technical level of
skill, again achieving podium places:
Ana Jelena Jugen & Kahena Kunze were vice champions and Juliana
Senftt & Gabriela Sá were 3rd.
The
Championship was the final event of the year, and served as training for the
forthcoming major Class events the three first months of 2008: the Brazilian Championship in January in
Saint Sebastião, the Youth Cup February
(venue to be determined) and the South American Championship in March in the
Rio de Janeiro. At this three events,
participation of a large number of teams from the fleets of the Rio de Janeiro,
SP, Federal District and RS are anticipated, together with more teams from
Argentinia, Chile and Mexico for the South American Championship.
