US Youth Worlds Qualifiers sailed and US Sailing Development Team named

US Sailing just held its ISAF Youth Worlds Qualifier event at Clearwater Yacht Club. Ian Liberty & Colin Murphy won the event and earned the nomination to represent the US in the 420 at the ISAF Youth World Championship at Istanbul in July.

The Women’s place was fought over hard, with Morgan Kiss & Katia DaSilva scoring three bullets in the ten race series from 16 – 18 January. But their more consistent scoreline gave 2nd place overall and the Women’s nomination at the ISAF Youths to Marlena Fauer & Christina Lewis. The Women were evidently on strong form, with Georgie Ryan & Haley Kirk taking 4th and Deirdre Lambert & Tracy
Doherty 5th overall.

And US Sailing have named its 2010 US Sailing Development Team. The following 420 sailors have been appointed: Morgan Kiss (Macatawa Bay YC) & Katie DaSilva (East Greenwich YC), Marlena Fauer (Southampton YC) & Christina Lewis (Lauderdale YC), Ian Liberty (Toms River YC) & Alex Whipple (New York YC), Judge Ryan (San Diego YC) & Chris Segerblom (Newport Harbor YC) and Declan Whitmyer (Noroton YC) & Ian Storck (Centerport YC).
