Brasileiros buzz in Búzios
Those Brazilian 420 sailors are busy again! – remember the party photos after
last year’s Nationals....and then the welcome at the ISAF Youths?
The Brazilian
420 Class National Championships are being held from 23 to 29 January
and, just to make any Northern Hemisphere sailors jealous, they are back in Búzios at that windsurfers
favourite on Manguinhos Beach, Búzios Vela Clube. the home of the 2009 Laser 4.7 Worlds. In case you are not
convinced, catch the club photos on flickr.
Meanwhile, the Class have been busy training at the venue. Our man at the front
of the boat, Nicolas Ilg Castro writes: “The boats have arrived here in
the 15th and have been training since than under extreme conditions. Until 2:00
pm there has been average 17kts and 3 feet waves but
after that the wind goes up to 20+ kts and the waves
reach 6 feet. Sailing has been unbelievable with the local weather that
consists of no rain at all, temperatures around 30 degrees, warm water and blue
skies, as the sailors in Youth Worlds probably remember” [does Nicolas work for
the Brazil Travel Bureau?(ed)].
We hope to be able to bring you news during the regatta.....that's if our
correspondent is awake after a day in those conditions!
