YOUTH WORLDS WINNERS REPEAT FORM AT 420 USA MID-WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP

Sisters Emma and Carmen Cowles (USA) dominated the opposition to win the Youth Sailing World Championships in December last year, and repeated their form to take victory at the USA 420 Mid-Winters in Miami on 19 February 2018.

Raced at the Miami Yacht Club, 17-19 February 2018, the 420 USA Mid-Winter Championships attracted a strong 42-boat fleet, packed with many of the best known USA 420 Class talent.

Emma and Carmen started strong, winning three back to back races with a clear margin, and then settled into a scorecard of top 10 results to win by 4 points. Their closest rivals were JC Hermus/Walter Henry and Thomas Rice/Trevor Bornarth, who finished second and third respectively. Rice/Bornarth also medalled at the Youth Words, picking up the silver.

Behind the Cowles sisters as second placed women's team were Michell Lahrkamp/Gabriella DeBello in 4th overall, with Sarah Burn/Patricia Gerli finishing as third placed women in 7th overall.
