Perfect Conditions on Race Day 4 as Teams Secure Podium Places at ISAF Youths

Defending 420 Girls ISAF Youth World Champions Ilaria Paternoster and Benedetta di Salle of Italy were disqualifed from race 10 and drop down to fourth overall, with Chile’s Nadja Horwitz and Carmina Malsh up into second and Singapore's Kimberly Lim/Savannah Siew in third. Several teams are in contention for the silver and bronze. Victory makes amends for Smith/Clark who lost out on gold to the Italians at the 2012 ISAF Youth Worlds.

In the 420 Boys, Brazil’s Tiago Brito/Andrei Kneipp have also guaranteed themselves at least the silver medal, with only Portugal’s Diogo Pereira and Pedro Cruz in with a chance of unseating them. That would need a race win from the Portuguese though. But, the Portuguese have done enough to assure themselves of a podium finish. Italy’s Matteo Pilati and Michele Cecchin are in third overall after two 2nd place finishes today, and with a 28 point margin over the fourth placed Japanese pair of Ibuki Koizumi/Tsubasa Arioka are all but assured of silver or bronze. The Italians just need to finish within the top 29 boats in this 31 boat fleet, and hope the Japanese don’t win tomorrow’s final race.
