A thrilling final day at the Spanish 420 National Championship saw 4 races decide the titles. Mallorcans Marc Lladó/Javi Gonzalez were crowned both the overall and U19 champions at the event hosted at the Club Nautic El Balis. Majorcan crews were the big winners, taking the girls title too as Maria Bover/Clara Llabrés, both of Real Club Nautico Palma the new Ladies Champions. Carlota Hernandez/Ana Carrasco wrapped up the Ladies U19 title and Luis Doreste/Julio Alonso from the Canary Island took the U17 title.

The last day of the Championship was exciting, keeping teams on edge as the ups and downs of the breeze made it a very difficult day. All the favorites suffered at a “dip” in performance, in at least one of the day’s race, with the Championship titles not decided until the final race.

The final day four races saw Marc Lladó/Javi Gonzalez scoring a 17-1-4-28, with Carlos Balaguer/Ignacio Balaguer knocking out a 6-10-6-3 scorecard to sit on an equal 31 points. But the three wins to Lladó/Gonzalez across the series trumped their rivals. Third place to Elias Leonard/Helenio Hoyos after finishing with 9-4-1-21.

For something a bit different, on Saturday the format changes to a Team Racing clash of titans.
