Domination at Sail Sydney from young 420 team

Four days of racing at Woolahra Sailing Club, the host of sailing for the Sydney Olympics in 2000 came to a close on Sunday. The four days, 13-16 December 2012, saw a mix of see breezes, stronger pressure gradient and lighter breezes in challenging swell and chop. In all fifteen 420s competed in this year's event sharing their course with a fleet of 470s that included the new 2016 Olympic challengers Matt Belcher and Will Ryan, and a handful of 505's.

Another Win for Winston-Smith/Dawson

Xavier Winston-Smith and Josh Dawson in 'Selden for Sailing' led from the outset taking three wins from three races on the first day leading at every mark rounding on the day. Over the four days and twelve races this combination bettered their Sail Melbourne result winning nine of twelve races and taking in three second places to round out their scorecard. Second place went to Klaus Lorenz and James Scott from Queensland with Caitlin Tames and Chelsea Powe improving on their poor luck in Sail Melbourne to finish third.

The Australian 420 fleet now prepare for the Nationals in Hobart from the 28 December to 4 January, followed closely by the Youth Nationals from 6-10 January.
