Hosted at Vilamoura, Portugal, the dates for the 2019 420 World Championships have been confrmed as 3-11 July 2019.

ALL EVENT INFORMATION

Renowned as a proven venue for numerous sailing Championships, Vilamoura, on Portgual's south coast, is set to welcome the world's best 420 sailors across the three racing divisions.

With separate racing fleets for Open, Ladies and the U17 division - the 420 Worlds embraces all levels of competition. To ensure the highest quality of racing, entries are limited by quotas for each division, with nations entitled to send teams as follows:

  • 2017 420 World Championships - is open to teams of all ages. Each nation is entitled to 7 boats, with 14 boats for the host nation.
  • 2017 420 Ladies World Championships - is open to teams of all ages. Each nation is entitled to 7 boats, with 14 boats for the host nation.
  • 2017 U17 420 World Championship - is restricted to athletes aged 16 and under at the end of 2017. Each 420 National Class Association is entitled to enter 6 boats (3 boats men or mixed and 3 boats ladies) and the host NCA entitled to 12 boats (6 boats men or mixed and 6 boats ladies). All entries to the U17 World Championship will race in one fleet. If there are less than 30 entries the U17 fleet will be included in the respective of Worlds and Ladies fleet.

Portugal last hosted a 420 World Championship back in 2002 in Tavira, on the nation's south coast.
