The Belgian Open 420 Championship 2005 was held as part of a multi-class event (420, 470, Europe, Cadet, Optimists) at Nieuwpoort, Belgium and was jointly hosted by W.S.K.Lum and R.Y.C.B and was as the Belgian Open Championships for the 420, 470 and Europe classes.
Very light winds and strong tidal streams prevented Optimists and Cadets from getting any races in on the Saturday while the 3 other classes only just managed to finish one of the two schedule races. This meant that the various championships titles were still wide open by Sunday morning. Although light conditions still prevailed on Sunday all classes were able to complete 3 good races. There was a very close finish at the top of the 420 fleet, with Pieter and Robyne Van Notten from the Netherlands finishing in third place, just one point behind, top ladies Lys Moulaert and Sofie Audenaerdt. The overall winners and National Champions were Nicolaas Van de Loock and Mathieu Seynaeve.
