The 2011-12 Nationals will be a qualification event for the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships - expect some great racing

Queensland is renowned for its competitive racing fleet with past and present 420 Men and Women Australian Youth Champions. “The 420 is by far the best youth racing class. And here in Australia we have one of the most competitive fleets in the world,” commented Angus Galloway (AUS) 2009 -10 & 2010-11 Youth Champion helm.

Once athletes complete in the National Open Championships they can make the short drive south to the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) for the Australian Youth Championships taking place from 6 January 2012. The Australian 420 Championships is one of the two selection events for the Australian Youth Sailing Team – headed for Dublin Bay in 2012, for the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships.

The Moreton Bay Boat Club (MBBC) is on picturesque Moreton Bay in sunny Queensland. With an outside deck with spectacular views of the water and boats which moor on the marina, the club is ideal to host the 2011-12 Championships.
