Argentina 420 National Championships

Dec 2013

From early on the pair showed their dominance, winning the first eight races of the twelve race series – virtually unopposed. With 1 discard knocking out their worst score of 7th, the pair added a 2,5 to their scoreline to finish a massive 32 points ahead of the next team.

Behind the leaders, there was much jostling and position changes amongst the teams, with no one team regularly finishing in 2nd or 3rd. So for the rest, it was all about consistency to maintain their place behind Romero/Jacobs.

Felipe Diniz/Ivan Aranguren had a tough opening day, but soon bounced up the scoreboard to regularly finish in the top 5 and seal one of the three race wins left unclaimed by Romero/Jacobs. A disqualification in race 10 almost upset their plans, but from the penalty they managed to wrap up the series with two third places and safely finish in second place. A mixed team rounded out the podium places, with Maria Vazquez/Gonzalo Nandin finishing 11 points behind from their scoreline of all top 10 finishes.

Amongst the most experienced Argentinean 420 teams, Romero/Jacobs represented Argentina at the 2013 ISAF Youth Worlds in Limassol, Cyprus where they finished 10th overall, before heading straight to the 2013 420 World Championships in Valencia, Spain where they finished 16th.
