420 South American Development Clinic
The first day of the 420 South American Clinic got underway with 15 teams joining 420 Class appointed coach Nikos Drougkas. The clinic opened with a review of racing at the first weekend of the 420 South American Championships, which take place over the weekends of 5-6 October and 12-14 October.
The teams discussed wind conditions, strategy and their mistakes during racing, with time spent to analyse any problems and set up the afternoon’s training session to focus on improvement and correction.
The teams got out onto the water around 1245 hours in a light 5 knot breeze, with warm-up exercises to get the session underway. With the wind building, the training moved to mark rounding and body movement in the boat, without the spinnaker. The day wrapped up with 5 short distance races, before a debrief ashore.
Taking place from 7-10 October, the 420 Development Clinic is designed to focus on key elements of racing a 420 and boat preparation.
