Three days of racing at 2012 Sail Auckland have seen three races each day contested, for a total of 9 races so far in the 420 fleet. Nineteen teams are competing in the 420 open fleet; 8 women’s teams, 10 men’s teams and 1 mixed team.
New President for Dutch 420 Class Association

Congratulations to Jan Boers who has been appointed as the new President of the Dutch 420 Class Association.
In recogntion of his commitment and support the retiring President Evert Jan has been appointed as a member of honor in tribute to his six years of duty and as a promoter off the Class.

Reigning 420 World and European Champions perform at 470 Junior Worlds

The reigning 420 World Champions Pablo Volker/Agustin Cunill Martinez (ARG) and reigning 470 Open European Champions Alex and George Kavvas (GRE) made their debut performance at a 470 World Championships over the past 7 days, competing at the 2012 470 Junior Worlds in Takapuna, New Zealand.
420 teams ready for 15th Asian Sailing Championships

Teams from 24 nations in Asia will gather in Langkawi, Malaysia ready to do battle for the 14 classes in Asian Championship titles. Organized by the Malaysia Yachting Association and Asian Sailing Federation, the Asian Sailing Championships will match hot favourites alongside relative newcomers to the class. To be eligible to compete, all sailors must be members of their National Federation.

More than two hundred competitors from thirteen countries begin racing on the Waitemata Harbour on Saturday 4 February in the Olympic, Paralympic and other invited classes.
420 Stars take on 470 Junior Worlds in New Zealand

Several teams are relatively fresh from converting to the 470 from the 420, including Pablo Völker/Agustín Cunill Martinez who have made the trip from Argentina to compete in Takapuna, New Zealand. They were crowned 2011 420 World Champions in January last year, and made their transfer to the 470 a few months later, finishing 16th at the 2011 470 Junior Worlds and 11th at the 2011 470 Junior Europeans. As reigning 420 World Champions, they are benefiting from the 470 Development Programme, which has awarded them free entry to the 2012 470 Junior Worlds.
Sail Auckland- Entry deadline 28 January 2012

Sail Auckland will be held at the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, Auckland from 3-7 February, with racing from 4 February.
So far 420 teams from New Zealand and Korea have entered, but with several days until the entry deadline on 28 January – more are set to enter.

USA Qualifier delivers comeback kids place at ISAF Youth Worlds

None of the winners was leading his or her class entering the third and last day, which was blessed by decent, if chilly, 9-10-knot breeze for the first time on the weekend. They all earned trips to Ireland in July, where they will join 400 boys and girls ages 19 and younger from 60 nations in Dun Laoghaire on Dublin Bay for the 2012 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships showdown from 12-21 July.
