2012 Spangler Cup
420 General Event News
The 2012 Spangler Cup was raced over 5-6 May, hosted by the Union Yacht Club Wolfgangsee in Austria. Twenty-one 420 teams contested the event, but it was really a race between two boats, with Stefan Scharnagl/Adrian Schalli and Bernhardt Haan/Christoph Koller taking it to the final race.
United 4 is onto Event 2

Solid sailing secures a great conversion for Quinten Lootens/Stijn van Hoye (BEL)at event 2 of United 4, as they secured a series win, up from a third place in event 1. Pieter Goedhart/Lars van Stekelenbourg (NED) finished third in event 2, down from their first place success in event 1.

After three days of racing at Bourgas Sailing Week it is Peter Stefanov/Ivan Kostov from Bulgaria who head up the 420 fleet. With three race wins in the bag, from the six races held, and a worst result of a fourth place, they are looking strong.

The 420 Championship season kicks off with the 2012 420 World and Ladies World Championships from 27 July-5 August at the venue of the National Sailing Training Institute in Neusiedl am See, Lake Neusiedl, Austria. The Austrian Sailing Training Institute is a state-of-the-art purpose built sailing centre right at the edge of Lake Neusiedl.

Erica Dawson - From 420 Champion to Starling Champion

Erica Dawson has become the first female in Starling Class history to make it into the top three, let alone win the Nationals in New Zealand. Erica Dawson of Murrays Bay Sailing Club sailed consistently throughout the 2012 Starling National Championship and domination of the last race set her a clear to win the title.
Day 2 at Coupe Internationale de l'amitié

Day 2 of CIMA saw strong winds of around 20 knots, with gusts averaging 25 knots with a few recorded at 29 knots. The breeze really added to the race pressure and the outcome after a further three races was some significant shifts on the leaderboard. But not for the top pair, Yvann Thelier/Gauther Germain (FRA), who remain at the front with a 1,8,2 score.
